The EUDI Wallet Consortium
We recently became part of the large-scale pilot European Digital Identity Wallet (EWC). The consortium comprises more than 60 partners and associated entities from the public and private sectors and is led by Sweden and Finland public authorities.
EWC will focus on two main piloting pillars: the Digital Travel Credential (DTC), including payments, and the Organizational Digital Identity (ODI). The EU Digital Wallet Consortium (EWC) is a significant initiative to transform how we deal with digital identity and travel – such as providing passenger information, buying goods and services, and trusted business-to-business interactions.
The EUDI wallet pilot will investigate essential aspects of people's online activities and explore the factors that help or hinder the adoption and expansion of the wallet. European users will test and evaluate pilot scenarios to enhance the user experience. It is one of the four large-scale pilots LSP financed by the European Commission and involves an exciting collaboration among all 27 EU-Member States. The pilot for the EWC is set to begin early next year. You can stay tuned to the EWC website for updates and a comprehensive list of all EWC participants.
Our team attended the European Wallet Consortia EWC kick-off meeting in Paris from May 30-31, 2023. We discussed VIDidentity (previously VIDchain), which is Validated ID's Decentralized Identity Platform. This platform offers SSI-based self-managed verifiable credentials.
TRACE4EU and the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI)
On the other hand, TRACE4EU has been selected by the European Commission to design and test holistic solutions built on European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) to secure product and data traceability and make processes in decentralized ecosystems evident against 3rd parties, including long-term preservation. TRACE4EU pilot projects will start in April 2023. Validated ID is among the 50 European organizations and companies forming and enhancing the future of EBSI. We are developing solutions to trace transactions, documents, and identities in decentralized ecosystems to ensure transparency and long-term preservation.
TRACE4EU is led by the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport in Slovenia, and Nena Dokuzov, Head of unit for social entrepreneurship, cooperatives and economic democracy in The Government of Republic of Slovenia (ministry). The project is set to make great strides in advancing blockchain technology globally.
VIDidentit’s key developers and project managers, Ivan Basart and Andreas Abraham, also attended and participated in the recent launch of Trace4EU in Slovenia.
Andreas Abraham, our VIDidentity Project Manager, says:
“We are honoured to contribute to expanding digital freedom worldwide. Our goal is to empower people to lead their digital lives with confidence, privacy, and security - both now and in the future.”
